It is my first time boxing, what should I expect?

For your first time, we recommend taking our beginner friendly classes (Boxing Intro or Boxing 101) to learn the fundamentals of boxing. Our classes are tailored for all levels and our coaches will guide you each step of the way. Register online for your free trial class by clicking ‘Join Now’.

I want to sign my child up for boxing, what are the steps?

We have group classes for Boxing Youth (ages 5-12) or Boxing Teens (ages 13-18). You can register them for a free trial by clicking ‘Join Now’ and selecting the class time that works for you . For private lessons, please email us at raincityboxing@gmail.com to schedule an appointment with a trainer.

Do I need to be in good shape to start boxing?

Not at all. No fitness background is required, any starting point is a good one as long as you are ready to learn!

What do I need to bring to class?

Appropriate workout wear & shoes are mandatory in the gym. (No slippers, boots, open-toed shoes, etc.)

If you have hand-wraps or gloves, please bring them in. For your first class, we have used ones that you can borrow if needed.

Be sure to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

Is it mandatory to participate in sparring? Do I have to worry about getting hit?

Absolutely not! Sparring is only for individuals who 100% want to participate. All participants must have approval and supervision by our coaches to spar at our gym to ensure appropriate basic skill levels are met.

I want to participate in competitions, how do I do that? 

For individuals who want to participate in competitions, you will need to have approval from our coaches. Further training requirements, adequate paperwork and registration with our associated organization, Boxing BC will need to be met.
